On April 15th, according to foreign media reports, the global PC market fell 3.2% in the first quarter of 2011 from the same period of last year, mainly because the investor computer hardware market remained cautious.

IDC expects 1.5% growth in the first quarter of this year, but the result is a 3.2% decline. With the rapid development of the tablet computer market, especially the Apple iPad and the same type of Samsung, Motorola and HTC products, IDC expects that the sales volume of tablet computers in Europe will reach 22 million in 2011. At the same time, with the rise in the prices of fuel and other commodities, as well as the instability in the Middle East and the earthquake in Japan, it will have a certain impact on the sales volume of computer products.

Jay Chou, a senior analyst at IDC's global PC market quarter research group, believes that these short-term events have slowed down the market impact of PC suppliers facing tablet PCs. "Long-term success depends on hardware makers' extraordinary designs. And "good enough computing power" has been magnified by netbooks and tablet PCs, so the real problem that PC vendors need to solve is how to enhance the user's product experience and thus increase the number of products."

Acer was a big loser in the past year, with its market share slipping from 12.9% to 11.2%, down 15.8%. In the same period, Lenovo became the biggest winner with a market share of 10% to 16.3%. Hewlett-Packard's quarterly sales remained at 15 million units. Although overall market share has risen, it still fell 2.8% from the same period last year.
