The MAX7044 crystal-based phase-locked loop (PLL) VHF/UHF transmitter is designed to transmit OOK/ASK data over the 300MHz to 450MHz frequency range. Supporting up to 100kbps of data, the MAX7044 can deliver up to +13dBm of power to a 50Ω load while consuming only 7.7mA at 2.7V operation.
The MAX7044 crystal-based architecture eliminates common problems in SAW-based transmitters, providing higher modulation depth, faster frequency settling times, higher transmit frequency tolerances, and lower temperature dependence. The MAX7044 also features a lower supply voltage (+2.1V to +3.6V). Use the MAX7044 in conjunction with the MAX1470 or MAX1473 superheterodyne receiver for superior reception performance.
A simple single-input data interface with a buffered clock output of 1/16 crystal frequency allows these MAX7044s to be compatible with most microcontrollers or code hopping generators.
The MAX7044 is available in an 8-pin SOT23 package and is fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.
