Omnibus-gitlab uses four different directories.

/opt/gitlab holds applicaTIon code for GitLab and its dependencies.

/var/opt/gitlab holds application data and configuration files that gitlab-ctl reconfigure writes to.

/etc/gitlab holds configuration files for omnibus-gitlab. These are the only files that you should ever have to edit manually.

/var/log/gitlab contains all log data generated by components of omnibus-gitlab.

Keeping the sender and the login mailbox consistent, I also made a mistake when configuring this, because I was using SSL when I was reading Tencent's official website, the port is 465.

But gitlab does not seem to use ssl, gitlab tutorial did not find whether to enable ssl configuration, I did not go deeper, so the port number was changed to 25, the mail was sent successfully.

When you test the email, you can use the forgotten password to send the email test, and then use gitlab-ctl tail to view it. After about 1 minute, you can see the log of the email. If you make a mistake, analyze the reason.
