According to foreign media reports, e-commerce giant Amazon’s flagship site, Amazon.com, will provide a second language, Spanish, to attract Spanish-speaking consumer groups in the United States. A spokesman for Amazon confirmed to CNET on Thursday that Amazon.com has started adding Spanish. This change will allow more than 40 million Spanish-speaking consumers and more than 10 million Spanish-English bilinguals in the United States to switch between English and Spanish. Spanish is currently the second most used language in the United States.

An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement: "Customers will be able to shop, browse and search millions of products on Amazon.com and Amazon Mobile Shopping applications, view their shopping carts, and place orders in Spanish." A spokesperson also added: "We will continue to introduce shopping experiences in the coming weeks. More and more customers should expect to see the option to quickly shop at Amazon.com in Spanish."

Amazon’s move hopes to attract Spanish-speaking consumers in the United States and Mexico. Amazon announced on Tuesday that the company has launched the Prime subscription service in Mexico. The service will provide service for more than 20 million products. In the first year, the Prime membership fee will be about 23 US dollars, and the second year will rise to 46 US dollars. Analysts predict that Amazon’s US native English Prime users may have reached a saturation point, so entering new markets is critical to the growth of Amazon users. The current Amazon Prime membership has increased to more than 60 million.

In order to maintain its growth, Amazon also launched Prime subscription services in China and India last year. Amazon also launched Prime subscription services in Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Japan.
