This move had a huge impact on TV makers at that time. MediaTek and Morningstar were the major suppliers to most TV plants in mainland China. The merger of the two meant that the bargaining power of mainland manufacturers was reduced. In the field of television and set-top boxes, the market share of the two will exceed 75%. Today, MStar Morningstar is still the dominant player in smart TV chips, and nobody can shake it.

This chip uses a quad-core processor based on the ARM Cortex-A17 architecture and uses a Mali T760 MP4 quad-core GPU graphics chip to support H.265 hard decoding, which is a performance-defying feature. Even so, it is still a whole generation behind smart phone chips. But for the current smart TV, it is already extremely embarrassing. MSD6A828 is the chip provided by MStar for the mid-range TV. It uses a 64-bit quad-core processor based on the ARM Cortex-A53 architecture, a Mali 450 MP4 quad-core GPU graphics chip, and supports full 4K format such as H.264, VP9 and H.265. Decoding, especially support H.265 4K2K @ 60Hz 10bit ultra-high definition decoding, take all 4K sources. The TV products that use this chip include the 55-inch 4K smart TV and so on.

MSD6A918 is the MStar Morningstar last-generation flagship TV chip. It uses a quad-core processor based on the ARM Cortex-A9 architecture. The GPU is a Mali-450 MP4 quad-core graphics chip that can perfectly support the H.265 hard-core solution. ARM's official GPU architecture will support H.265 hard solutions starting with the Mali-400, and the Mali 450 will be better supported. H.265 is an overhauled and improved version of H.264. It has many excellent new features, including ensuring that the same picture quality is smaller and takes up less bandwidth. TV products using this chip include Xiaomi TV 2 and so on.
