Experts develop small and medium wind turbines

China's wind power industry started with small and medium-sized wind turbines. For the historical status and practical significance of small and medium sized wind turbines, Yang Xiaosheng, chairman of the Wind Energy Equipment Branch of the China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association, believes that when looking back at the development of the industry, wind power development in China started with small and medium-sized wind power; currently, small and medium-sized wind power has become a powerful power grid in China. Following the declining trend in the domestic market in 2013, the market for small and medium-sized wind turbines has shrunk again in 2014; the international market is also not optimistic and the market is not strong enough. For the industry's prospects, Yang Xiaosheng said that the small and medium-sized wind turbine industry has been tenacious for decades under difficult circumstances. South-South cooperation and some domestic demonstration bases are opportunities for the development of small and medium-sized wind power. Deputy Director Ren Dongming of the National Renewable Energy Center pointed out at the meeting that the small and medium-sized wind turbines have a wide range of applications and can achieve the local consumption of local production capacity, which is fully consistent with the characteristics of future new energy systems.
