Zhu Gongshan said that GCL's entry into the LED industry was well thought out and had been prepared for 2-3 years. At present, GCL has set up production bases in Suining and Xuzhou, Jiangsu respectively. The total investment of the first phase is 300 million U.S. dollars. By the end of this year, there will be more than 300 crystal growth furnaces with various production methods, as well as imported from Switzerland, the United States and Japan. There are hundreds of processing and testing equipment for cutting, grinding and polishing, and the monthly production of sapphire wafers can reach 1.2 million.
At present, two GCL Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. located in Suining and Xuzhou have already started production of 2 inch, 4 inch and 6 inch products, and 8 inch and 12 inch products will soon be available.
Zhu Gongshan pointed out that the sapphire project, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of GCL, has been self-owned funds so far, and no VCs have been introduced. However, in the future, it is hoped that the photovoltaic projects will be listed separately, and will be considered for the introduction of VCs before listing.
